New U.S. single-family home sales rose more than expected in
June, reaching their highest level in nearly 8.5 years. Sales were up 3.5 percent from May and 25.4
percent year-on-year to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 592,000. With this increase, new home sales in the
second quarter are well above their average for the first three months of the
year.
